Cómo afrontar el cambio mental en quienes apoyas

Cómo afrontar la demencia con claridad, confianza y valentía

Dementia doesn’t erase who we are.
It is not the end of our story.
It does not define us, nor diminish our worth, purpose, or humanity.
Personhood remains—rich with identity, history, and meaning.

Cognitive change, like many other diagnoses, invites us into the gift of presence, connection, and meaningful moments.
It highlights the importance of slowing down, listening with our hearts, and practicing unconditional grace and love – for ourselves and one another.

In this chapter of life, joy reveals itself in often overlooked ways:
The warmth of the sun on our face, the sound of children laughing, the softness of a kitten, a shared smile, or a gentle touch.

People living with brain change can continue to contribute, connect, and experience a life of meaning and purpose.
When we honor what remains—rather than focusing on what has changed—we open the door to living well, together, through every stage of dementia.
“While memory of the mind may change, memory of the heart remains—our capacity to feel love, joy, purpose, and belonging.“ SSM

CONFIANZA
CONFIANZA

Our stories can shape who we become... and sometimes, the work we’re called to do.
If dementia is part of your story, you are not alone.
Sparrow Dementia Care Consulting grew out of my family’s journey with Lewy Body Dementia—first with my mother, and later with my father.
Like so many families, we were unprepared. We were learning in real time, often overwhelmed, trying to support the people we loved, manage our own families and jobs, while steadily encountering changing symptoms and needs.
Those years changed me. They taught me that dementia care requires different skills, a shift in perspective, and a deeper understanding of what remains possible.
They also showed me how powerful the right guidance can be—for families, care partners, and those living with brain change.
Sparrow exists to equip and encourage—offering practical training, compassionate support, and a life-affirming approach to dementia care.
I’m glad you’re here.
